Frequency: 18000 Hz

Note: Frequencies > 20kHz are inaudible to most humans.

How does it work?

This progressive web application helps you train your dog with a high-frequency whistle in the 15,000 to 30,000 Hz range. Humans can only hear up to 20,000 Hz, but dogs can hear up to 45,000 Hz or higher.

An ultrasonic whistle works by startling the dog or as a training cue; it does not automatically silence it. It should be used as a momentary negative reinforcement followed by a command.

Effectiveness in dogs

Not all dogs react the same way. For some, the sound is a distraction that stops them barking, but for others it can be irritating or simply ignored if there is a lot of ambient noise.

Ethical and Usage Considerations

An ultrasonic whistle works by surprise or as a training cue; it does not automatically silence the dog. It should be used as momentary negative reinforcement followed by a command.

Animal Welfare

Prolonged use or use at very high volumes (if the hardware allows it) could cause stress or pain in the animal's ear canal.

Limitations

Speaker Hardware: Most commercial telephone speakers are designed for the human hearing range (20 Hz - 20,000 Hz). Many physically filter out any sound above 20 kHz. If the hardware can't vibrate at that speed, it won't emit anything, or it will emit a distorted "click."
